Wisconsin designation of TOD beneficiary, or “transfer on death deed,” is used to name a person or entity who will receive ownership of a property once the current owner passes away. This method of conveyance allows a decedent’s real property to bypass probate and be immediately transferred to the new owner (the “beneficiary”) upon the instrument taking effect. Furthermore, a property owner who has recorded this type of deed will continue to have the same ownership rights as before, including the right to transfer or encumber their property. In addition to designating a beneficiary, a property owner may also use this instrument to revoke any previously named beneficiaries.
