An Oklahoma notary acknowledgment is used by a notary public to confirm that an individual signing a document is who they say they are and their signature is authentic. The notary will review the signing party’s identification and ensure the signature is given willingly before signing the acknowledgment and affixing their seal. The completed form must include the notarial officer’s signature, seal (if any), title, and commission expiry date.
A notary public in Oklahoma must renew their commission every four years (§ 49-1).
Is Online Notarization Legal in Oklahoma?
Yes, the laws and procedures for Remote Online Notarization (RON) were established with the approval of Senate Bill 915 on May 9th, 2019. Notarial officers performing online notarizations must keep an audiovisual recording of the act and keep an electronic journal that states:
- The date, time, and type of the notarial act.
- The name and address of the signing individuals.
- The document’s description (if any).
- A statement describing how the identity of the signing individual was verified.
- The fee.
