New Jersey notary acknowledgment is used by a notarial officer to confirm the identity of an individual and the validity of their signature. The acknowledgment states that the individual is signing the document for its intended purpose, they understand what they are signing, and they are doing so of their own free will. The completed form should include the signature, name, and title of the notarial officer and the date of the notarial act.

Notaries in New Jersey have a five-year term (§ 52:7-11(a)).

Is Online Notarization Legal in New Jersey?

Yes, Assembly Bill No. 4250 allowed for notarial acts to be carried out remotely. The notarial officer must be able to accurately verify the identity of the remotely located individual and complete an electronic certificate to attach to the notarized record.
