An Oklahoma general power of attorney is a document that an individual (the “principal”) uses to appoint an agent to represent them under an arrangement that automatically terminates if the principal is incapacitated. The agent, also referred to as the “attorney-in-fact,” will be given the powers to manage the principal’s finances, business, and property as defined in the completed form. The arrangement will either come into effect immediately upon execution or on a future date listed in the document. When signing the power of attorney, the principal will need to have two (2) witnesses and a notary public present to verify their signature.

Durable Power of Attorney – This type of power of attorney will either come into effect when the principal is incapacitated or will remain effective regardless of the principal’s incapacitation.
