Recording Requirements

  1. The grantor must sign the document in the presence of a notary public.[1]
  2. The first page must have a 3″ x 5″ free space in the top right corner.[2] All other margins must be at least 0.5″.
  3. The deed must be on white paper sized 8.5″ x 11“.
  4. All ink must be black.

Deeds in Illinois are recorded at the County Recorder’s Office.[3] Filing fees vary per county.
