How to Format

Layout

Deeds must be recorded on paper not larger than 8.5″ x 14″.[1] State law does not impose other formatting requirements, but the clerk’s office in each county may set its own document recording standards (e.g., Jefferson County).

Signatures

The signatures on a warranty deed must be notarized.[2]

Recording

Properly executed deeds can be filed with the County Clerk’s Office in the county where the property is located.[3] The recording fee for deeds is $30 for the first 5 pages and $1 for each additional page (at the time of writing).[4]
