Signing Requirements
EMS personnel will honor a DNR order if it is signed by the patient (or their medical POA) and a physician.[1]
A registered nurse may sign in place of a physician if instructed to do so by the physician.
A Nebraska do not resuscitate form directs medical staff not to perform CPR or use mechanical ventilation in the event of cardiopulmonary arrest. This DNR order can be issued to an individual with a diagnosis after they have discussed the matter with their physician.
