North Carolina subcontractor agreement outlines the terms by which a general contractor hires a subcontractor to complete a specific task for a bigger project. It describes the subcontractor’s responsibilities, how much they’ll be paid, and whether they’re responsible for using their own tools and materials when performing their duties. The agreement also contains legal provisions to protect each party in the event of unforeseen delays, unfinished or unsatisfactory work, and contract disputes.

The subcontractor will work for the general contractor directly, who will be liable to the client for the quality and efficiency of the subcontractor’s work. To protect their business interests, the general contractor should verify that the subcontractor has the proper credentials and licensure for the job on offer.
