The Indiana 1-month notice to quit is reserved for landlords who wish to terminate a month-to-month lease agreement with a tenant without cause. As long as the landlord gives the tenant one (1) month to vacate the premises, the landlord does not need a reason to end a rental contract with a tenant. The tenant, once they receive this notice, must pack their personal property and vacate the premises before the notice period expires. If they remain on the property after the notice period, the landlord can file an eviction suit with the county circuit court. A tenant can also use this notice to quit to notify a landlord that they intend on moving out within one (1) month.
