The North Carolina 7-Day notice to quit is used by landlords or their tenants to terminate a month-to-month tenancy with seven (7) days’ notice. Neither party needs to provide justification for deciding to cancel the lease agreement; however, the other party must be given written notice at least seven (7) days before the end of the current rental period. If a tenant does not vacate their rental unit by the time a termination notice has expired, the landlord may begin legal action for their removal.
