The New Jersey 1-month notice to quit to terminate month-to-month tenancy can be used by either the landlord or the tenant of a monthly tenancy to terminate their rental agreement with one (1) month’s notice. When terminating a periodic tenancy, landlords have no legal requirement to offer any justification for the cancelation. The tenant must move out within one (1) month of receiving the notice or the landlord will have the right to have them formally evicted.
