The California motor vehicle power of attorney (Form REG-260) is a document whereby an individual conveys power to an attorney-in-fact to complete the necessary documents to transfer ownership of their vehicle. The form must state the vehicle or vessel in question providing a full description including identification numbers, make, and year. A Form REG-260 includes two fillable copies, one of which may be submitted and the other which may be kept by the owner for their records. Photocopies or fax copies of a California motor vehicle power of attorney are accepted by the State of California DMV.
