A South Dakota tax power of attorney (Form 2848) is a form provided by the federal government that allows taxpayers to designate a representative to complete tax forms, request confidential information, and file federal taxes on their behalf. Using this form, up to four (4) representatives can be appointed to represent the taxpayer for multiple tax matters, such as individual income, corporate, sales and use, and excise taxes.

It should be noted that this document only authorizes representatives to deal with the IRS, not the South Dakota Department of Revenue.
