A Vermont motor vehicle power of attorney is a document that grants an individual or business the authority to administer motor vehicle transactions on behalf of a principal (the vehicle owner). This power of attorney form is commonly employed to title and register a vehicle while the principal is out-of-state or otherwise unable to manage their affairs.
The party receiving power, known as the “attorney-in-fact,” may accept, sign, and deliver vehicle-related documents issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), as well as transfer ownership between parties. The attorney-in-fact must present the document to the DMV when exercising their power, and they will likely need to display photo identification to confirm their identity.
