The West Virginia motor vehicle power of attorney (Form DMV-9-TR) is a document that gives an agent the authority to administer motor vehicle transactions on behalf of an automobile owner. The agent’s power enables them to apply for a new or duplicate certificate of title, register a vehicle, transfer ownership, and make an official mileage disclosure.
The owner of the vehicle will need to gather some relevant information to identify their automobile properly. Namely, they’ll need the vehicle’s make, year, body style, and vehicle identification number (VIN). If this power of attorney is for a boat, the owner must instead provide the hull identification number (HIN), which is displayed in the upper right corner of the boat’s transom.
