Model Release Form

A model release form is a consent form that authorizes a photographer to use a model’s image and likeness. While laws and regulations vary by state, a release form is generally a requirement if a person’s photo will be used commercially. The parties should discuss the terms of the authorization (such as consideration) before the model signs the form.

Liability

A model photo release form helps protect both parties from future legal issues.
The photographer is given the right to use the photos of the model without any risk of the model filing legal claims against them.
The model has written proof that the photos will only be used for legal commercial purposes and that they will, in many cases, receive compensation.
