A Louisiana rental application is a document used by landlords to screen applicants for a residential lease before accepting the most suitable candidate as a tenant. In having each prospective tenant complete an application, the landlord will also obtain the consent to perform background and credit checks, for which they may charge an application fee to cover the associated costs. The landlord is mostly interested in the prospective tenant’s rental history, employment and income information, any instances of bankruptcy, and personal references who can vouch for the applicant’s character.
