A Georgia notary acknowledgment is used to verify an individual’s signature on a legal document before a notary public. It includes the signer’s name, the notarization date, and the type of identification they provide to the notary public. Once the signer acknowledges that they signed the document in question, and their identity is confirmed, the notary public can sign and stamp the acknowledgment form.
A notary public’s term of office is four years (§ 45-17-5(a)).
Is Online Notarization Legal in Georgia?
No, Georgia has not formally authorized online notarization. However, the Department of Revenue does allow certain tax-related forms to be notarized remotely (Rule 560-1-1-.14).
