A Tennessee notary acknowledgment certifies that an individual’s signature on a legal document is genuine. The acknowledgment form will state that the signer appeared before the notary and declared that they willingly signed the original document. The notary public will need to enter in the acknowledgment date, county, and the signer’s name before stamping the certificate.

Notaries in Tennessee are appointed to a 4-year term by commission of the state governor (§ 8-16-103).
