New Mexico Vehicle Registration (3 Steps)

Once an individual has purchased a used vehicle in New Mexico, they are required to apply for registration within 30 days.[1]
 

1. Gather Necessary Documentation

Both titling and registration can be completed by filling out and bringing the following documentation to the buyer’s local Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) Field Office:[2]

2. Go to MVD Field Office

The buyer may proceed to their local MVD field office once they have all the required documentation. They will be required to pay registration fees plus applicable taxes to the MVD office clerk to complete the registration and titling process.

3. Receive Plates

Once registration has been completed, the buyer will receive registration plates to put on their new vehicle.
