New Jersey Concealed Carry

New Jersey law requires a state permit to concealed carry. Out-of-state concealed carry permits are not accepted. Residents must have a Firearms Purchaser Identification Card and/or a Handgun Purchase Permit before applying for the concealed carry permit.[4]

Applicants must use the online portal and follow the instructions to apply for the permit. To facilitate the process, individuals should be prepared to upload:

  • A recent photograph.
  • Their SBI number.
  • A firearms training certificate completed within the last two years.[5]
  • Social Security Number and driver’s license number.
  • Background information.
  • The contact information of four references (non-family).
  • Details on the firearms the applicant intends to carry.
  • A payment method for the application fee.
