Wisconsin Gun Laws

Wisconsin Concealed Carry

Wisconsin residents ages 21 and older must have a Wisconsin Concealed Carry weapon license to legally carry a concealed handgun.

To obtain a license, residents must complete the online application provided by the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Applicants will receive a license as long as they meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Not be prohibited from possessing a firearm under federal law, state law, or court order.
  • Be a Wisconsin resident.
  • Provide adequate proof of training.[2]
Open Carry – Open carry in Wisconsin is legal without a permit for any individual 18 years of age or older who is not prohibited from possessing a weapon.[3]
