New owners can register and title their boat or motor by completing the steps below (late fees will begin to apply after 15 days from the purchase date).^[2]

1. Present the notarized bill of sale or certificate of title at a Taxpayer Service Center (or county auditor’s office) and pay the property tax.
2. Prepare the following documents and payment:
   • Certificate of Title
   • Property Tax Receipt – Obtained upon payment of the property tax.
   • Watercraft/Outboard Motor Application – Must be signed before a notary.
   • Fees – A check payable to the SCDNR to fulfill the registration/titling fees and excise tax.
3. Mail the above documents (originals, not copies) and payment to:
