Arkansas Boat Registration
All boats propelled by a sail or motor must be registered in Arkansas to be operated legally on public waters.[1] All watercraft manufactured in 2020 or later must be titled.[2]
To register/title a boat, individuals must first assemble the following documents:
- Application for Watercraft – For obtaining a new certificate of title.
- Certificate of Title – Assigned by the previous owner.[3]
- Verification of hull identification number (HIN) – Either photograph or pencil rubbing.
- Proof of ownership – Current registration or bill of sale.
- Proof that the boat has been or is listed to be assessed by a government Assessor.
- A receipt from the County Tax Collector or certification that personal property taxes have been paid.
- Proof of liability insurance (if the boat’s engine has more than 50 hp.).
To complete the process, the documents and any applicable fees should be submitted to an Arkansas State Revenue Office.
New boat owners have 30 days to register and title their vessels with the Department of Finance and Administration.
