An Arkansas bill of sale is a document that is completed following a transaction wherein a buyer purchases a private seller’s personal property. In this state, all vehicle sales between citizens should be recorded in a bill of sale document so that the new owner can register the recently-purchased vehicle under their name. In all other types of transactions, it is still a wise choice to record the transfer of ownership so as to have proof of ownership (for the buyer) and a release from liability (for the seller). If the property being sold is of sufficient value, the parties may wish to notarize their signatures to further authenticate the bill of sale document.
