A New Mexico boat bill of sale is used to mark the transfer of ownership of a boat from a seller to a buyer. The completed form serves as a record of the transaction and the purchase price, which will be used to calculate the excise tax the buyer must pay. A bill of sale can also be used as proof of ownership when the buyer applies for title and registration.

New Mexico Boat Registration

All motorboats are required to be registered in New Mexico once ownership has transferred to a new party, and if they’re over 10 feet, they must also be titled.[1] Both registration and titling must be applied for within 30 days to avoid late penalties.[2]

To complete their application for title and registration, the new owner must visit an MVD office with the following[3]:
