Utah Move-in/Move-out Checklist
Last updated June 9th, 2025
A Utah move-in/move-out checklist is a form used to assess a rental unit’s condition before and after a tenant’s lease term. Once the lease expires, the landlord will use the move-out portion of the form to detail any damage beyond ordinary wear and tear and make deductions from the security deposit accordingly.
Inventory & Move-In Checklist Requirements
Before entering a rental agreement, the landlord must provide a written inventory of the rental unit’s condition and allow the prospective tenant to conduct a walkthrough inspection of the premises.
After the tenant signs a lease, the owner must furnish a move-in checklist for the resident to record the state of the dwelling.[1]
