How to Format

Layout

  • The document must have a 3″ margin at the top of the first page and a 1″ margin on all other sides of all pages.
  • Font size must be at least 10 pt.
  • The ink must be black, although signatures can be black or dark blue.
  • The paper must be at least 20lb, white, with a minimum size of 8.5″ x 11″ and a maximum of 8.5″ x 14″.[1]

Signatures

The transferor (grantor) must acknowledge their signature before a notary public.[2]

Recording

All deeds can be recorded with the Register of Deeds in the county where the property is located.[3] The fee for recording a deed is $30 for the first 50 pages and $2 for each additional page as of this writing.[4]
