An Alaska notary acknowledgment is a form that provides official confirmation that a person’s signature on a document is legitimate. A notary public is tasked with checking the individual’s identification to ensure it matches the signature. They must sign the acknowledgment form and include their official seal to certify the document.
A notary public serves a term of four years in Alaska before they must apply for a new commission (AS § 44.50.010).
Is Online Notarization Legal in Alaska?
Yes, a notary public can perform notarizations remotely, effective January 1, 2021, through the passing of House Bill 124 (Uniform Real Property Electronic Recording Act).
A notary public can perform notary services using community technology to verify a signer’s identity in the same manner as a traditional notarization.
