Delaware Boat Registration

Boat registration is required for all motorized vessels in Delaware.[1] There are no boat titling requirements in the state. After purchasing a boat, the buyer can complete their boat registration by[2]:

  1. Completing the Vessel Registration Application.
  2. Gathering the notarized bill of sale, the old registration card, and a photo or pencil rubbing of the Hull Identification Number.
  3. Visiting a Delaware Boat Registration Agent to submit the forms and pay the fees.

If both buyer and seller present themselves to the Delaware Boat Registration Agent with photo ID, a notarized bill of sale is not required.
