A New Jersey general bill of sale is a form that reports the exchange of goods between a buyer and a seller. It provides the buyer with written evidence of the item they purchased, the date of sale, and the price that was paid to the seller. This generic bill of sale form is particularly useful in private transactions where an official receipt would otherwise be absent, such as garage sales and purchases made through online classifieds. Buyers should be aware that the bill does not include a warranty, and the property they purchase will be acquired “as is.” Consequently, any problems or defects discovered after the sale will be the buyer’s responsibility.
