The Tennessee motor vehicle bill of sale is a receipt proving that a transaction occurred between a buyer and a seller of a motor vehicle. This document details the seller’s information, the buyer’s information, the date of the transaction, a description of the vehicle, and the sale price. While a bill of sale isn’t usually required when the new owner registers the vehicle, it is recommended that both parties maintain this receipt for their records. Both the buyer and seller will have to sign the bill of sale to validate the form.
Tennessee Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney – Also referred to as Form RV-F1311401, the Tennessee motor vehicle power of attorney authorizes an agent to act on behalf of another person with regard to vehicle-related transactions.

- Buyer must obtain a copy of their current registration if they are transferring their license plates from a previous vehicle.
- Buyer can visit their county clerk and hand over the abovementioned documents plus proof of identity and residency.
- Buyer will be asked by the clerk to pay a registration fee of $23.75 (see all state registration fees here).
