A Texas 1-month notice to quit is used for rental contracts in which the tenant is leasing the space on a month-to-month basis. Unlike standard leases, a monthly contract does not have an end date but renews at the beginning of each month so long both the landlord and tenant wish to continue the arrangement.

When either the landlord or tenant decides they’d like to end the contract, they need to provide the other party with at least one (1) month’s notice before the next rental payment. This provides the landlord with a means of finding a new tenant and gives the tenant the time to move out and find a new place to live. To provide the other party with an official notice of their intent to end the lease, the landlord must complete and sign the document and send it to the other party’s notice address.
