The Alaska motor vehicle power of attorney (Form 847) grants an individual or entity full legal authority to handle a variety of motor vehicle-related tasks on behalf of the owner. This includes the right to sell, purchase, transfer, and assign the title to another person or entity. The form is commonly used if the vehicle’s owner is away for an extended period of time or a business owner is delegating the task of purchasing a company vehicle to an employee. The agent named in the power of attorney can only perform duties pertaining to the vehicle described in the form; they do not have the authority to handle any other matters for the principal, vehicle or otherwise.
