An Oregon durable power of attorney lets an individual (the principal) appoint an agent to act on their behalf and oversee their financial affairs. The agent’s scope of authority may be limited to a specific duty such as collecting rent or signing legal documents on the principal’s behalf. In other cases, the agent might receive an unlimited range of power over the principal’s finances and property. All legal rights transferred to the agent through the durable power of attorney will remain in effect regardless of the mental or physical condition of the principal.
