A South Carolina motor vehicle power of attorney is executed by the principal for the purposes of appointing an agent to handle DMV-related tasks on their behalf. This power of attorney is limited in that the agent can only handle motor vehicle-related tasks for the principal and only for one (1) of the principal’s vehicles. The vehicle’s year, make, model, VIN, and odometer reading must be entered onto the form. The assignments that the agent can fulfill include vehicle titling, registration, licensing, purchasing, and selling. While it is not required by state law, it is recommended that a motor vehicle power of attorney form be notarized.

Signing Requirements – Notary Public acknowledgment is recommended.
