A Mississippi residential rental application is used by landlords to screen potential tenants by using their rental history, employment, character references, and financial standing. The application form is given out to interested parties who will be required to provide personal and financial information, including a list of all prospective co-tenants and pets who will be joining the applicant. By signing the document and returning it to the landlord, the prospective tenant gives their permission to have their credit score and criminal background checked. If the landlord performs a background check, they will usually charge the prospective tenant an application fee (for which there is no statutory limit).
