The New Jersey rental application form allows landlords to assess a potential tenant’s ability to reliably pay rent on time, as well as their general suitability as a tenant. Rental applicants will be given the form and be required to provide their rental history, personal references, banking information, and signature. Once the tenant’s signature has been obtained, the landlord will be permitted to perform a credit and criminal background check (for which the applicant will usually be charged a fee). If the landlord approves the individual for tenancy after analyzing their application, they will enter into a residential lease agreement together.
