The New Jersey rental application form allows landlords to assess a potential tenant’s ability to reliably pay rent on time, as well as their general suitability as a tenant. Rental applicants will be required to provide their rental history, personal references, and employment information. Once the tenant’s signature has been obtained, the landlord will be permitted to perform a credit and criminal background check (for which the applicant will usually be charged a fee). If the landlord approves the individual for tenancy after analyzing their application, they will enter into a residential lease agreement together.
