Disclosure of Landlord’s Criteria
Applicants must be given the landlord’s criteria for rejecting lease applications before they provide any of their information, including the following:
- The types of information accessed during the screening.
- Criteria that may result in the denial of their application.
- The name and address of the consumer reporting agency if one is used.
- The applicant’s right to obtain the consumer report.
- If the landlord will accept a reusable tenant screening report made by a consumer reporting agency.[1]
Maximum Fees ($)
Application Fee – The application fee cannot exceed the actual cost of the screening process.[2]
Pet Deposit – No statute.
Security Deposit – No statute.
- Exception – In Seattle, a security deposit cannot exceed the value of one month’s rent.[3]
