A Washington rental application is used by landlords to determine whether a prospective tenant is a viable candidate for tenancy. The landlord will request the applicant’s personal details, credit references, employer history, and contact information of their current and prior landlords. After the form has been signed, the landlord will be permitted to run a credit check and any other inquiries they deem necessary. However, the landlord’s criteria for rejection must be communicated to the applicant before obtaining any information (§ 59.18.257).
