How a Demand Letter is Used
A demand letter from an attorney is sent to a person, company, or organization to request immediate action in a matter concerning their client. If the recipient doesn’t respond or act within the given time limit, the attorney and their client may file a lawsuit against them. In which case, they may be liable for court fees and additional damages.
Examples of cases where an attorney may write and send a demand letter include:
- Breach of contract
- Compensation for client’s personal injury
- Debt collection on behalf of clients
- Fulfillment of client’s insurance settlement
