Arkansas Vehicle Registration (3 Steps)

1. Prepare for Online Registration

After purchasing a vehicle or moving to Arkansas, individuals will have 60 days to title and register their vehicle.[1] For online titling and registration, owners will need to obtain the following documentation[2]:

  • Insurance card
  • Federal odometer statement
  • An applicable primary document (vehicle title, bill of sale)

The owner may also need:

  • A lien contract/security agreement
  • Certification of payment or receipt from county tax collector to prove that personal property taxes have been paid.
  • Personal property tax number

2. Prepare for In-Person Registration

For individuals who wish to apply in person, they must first fill out the Vehicle Registration Application. The owner must also have the following[3]:

  • The previous owner’s title assigned to the buyer
  • An invoice or bill of sale stating the full purchase price and odometer reading
  • A signed copy of the lien agreement if the vehicle purchase was financed
  • Proof of insurance
  • Proof that the vehicle has been assessed or will be assessed by the country assessor
  • Proof that personal property taxes have been paid

3. Submit and Pay

If submitting online, owners should navigate to the myDMV Vehicle Registration/Title webpage, follow the on-screen instructions, and pay the applicable registration fee and taxes.[4] The owner will receive the registration and plates in the mail. The title will be sent once all the necessary documents have been processed.

In-person applications should be done at the local DMV office, where the individual will submit the documents, pay the fees and taxes, and receive the plates and new certificate of title.
