Delaware Vehicle Registration (3 Steps)The below steps must be taken within 30 days of purchase.[1]
1. Transfer TitleTo transfer a vehicle’s title and registration between two owners, the seller must first out the Assignment of Certificate of Title area on the back of the vehicle’s title (Section 1). The buyer and seller must both sign the title for the transfer to take place. The seller must then complete either the Seller’s Report of Sale or the back of the Registration Card and mail it to the DMV. 2. Prepare DocumentsThe buyer must fill out the Purchaser’s Application on the back of the title and gather the following:
Delaware Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney – Used by vehicle owners to appoint a representative to act on their behalf and handle vehicle-related responsibilities, such as registration and title with the DMV.
