Wisconsin Boat Registration

Registration is mandatory for motorized boats and sailboats 12 feet or longer, and titling is required for all boats 16 feet or longer.[1]

Registration and titling must be applied for within 10 days of purchase and can be accomplished using the following steps[2]:

  1. Obtain the seller’s Certificate of Title. The new owner will also need the information from the seller’s certificate of registration.
  2. Submit the completed Boat Registration and Titling Application online. Fees and taxes must be paid at the end of the online application.[3]
  3. If the boat is 16 feet in length or greater, mail the Certificate of Title to:
