A Rhode Island 2-day notice to enter is used by landlords to notify tenants when access to the rental property is required. The document informs the tenant of the time, date, and reason for the landlord to enter the property. If the tenant is unavailable at the specified hour, they can usually request to reschedule the appointment to a more suitable time.

Emergency Access (§ 34-18-26(b)) – In an emergency or if the tenant is absent for over 7 days, the landlord has the legal right to enter the rental unit without their consent.

Laws

Landlords are legally permitted to enter a rental unit for any of the following purposes with a minimum 2 days’ notice before:

  • Inspections
  • Repairs
  • Decorations
  • Renovations
  • Supplying other services
  • Showing the property

Statutes: § 34-18-26
