A Colorado motor vehicle bill of sale documents a transaction wherein a buyer purchases a vehicle from a seller at an agreed-upon price. Much like a receipt, the bill of sale verifies that the vehicle was sold, the price it was sold for, and the date of the sale. It also contains a description of the vehicle which consists of the make, year, and vehicle identification number (VIN). At the time of the purchase, the buyer should carefully review the form to ensure that the description corresponds with the vehicle on offer. The parties can then sign the bill of sale to finalize the transfer ownership, thus releasing the seller from their liabilities and interest in the vehicle.
