Signing & Recording Deeds in Alabama
Signature Requirements
State law requires that a deed must be signed by the grantor, a notary public, and a witness. If the grantor cannot or does not sign, two witnesses must also attest and sign.[1]
Recording
Deeds are recorded with the Probate Court with jurisdiction over the transferred real estate. The fee to record deeds at the time of this writing is $3 per page.[2]
There are no state-wide standards regarding how deeds must be formatted. However, some jurisdictions may have their own specifications.
Required Attachments
Real Estate Sales Validation (Form RT-1) – Must be completed and filed with deeds in Alabama.[3]
