A Tennessee independent contractor agreement allows a hiring party to acquire the services of a freelance worker and set forth the terms and conditions of their business relationship. The agreement will define the services to be provided, the financial compensation the contractor will receive, and the project deadline by which the work must be completed.

The independent contractor is responsible for obtaining the necessary permits, licenses, and insurance as they are not an employee of the client. For the same reason, the employer will not have to pay employment or payroll taxes for the hired individual, nor will they need to provide employee benefits. The document should be completed and reviewed carefully by both parties to avoid confusion or misunderstandings.
