The Washington independent contractor agreement is used when a business or individual wishes to hire a freelancer and come to a mutually beneficial agreement regarding the conditions of the project. The document serves to provide legal protection to both freelancer and contractor should either party fail to uphold the terms of the agreement.
Before any work begins, both parties should agree to the scope of the work, payment terms, project due dates, and agreement termination provisions. This document supersedes any prior agreement between the client and the freelancer, both oral and written.
