The Wisconsin 28-day notice to quit is a notice given by either a landlord or a tenant that an at-will or periodic tenancy will be terminated in twenty-eight (28) days. Neither party needs to give the other a reason for why they’re cancelling the arrangement, but they must deliver a letter, formal or informal, which relays their intent and the date on which the agreement will be terminated. The statutorily-defined notice period and method must be obeyed unless the parties have agreed on another form of termination and that alternative method is clearly and convincingly relayed in a written agreement.
